
Kate the “Cownselor”
Kate Kiker is a licensed professional counselor, and certified animal-assisted intervention specialist. Her practice opened in 2023 and is run out of her family’s farm, where her understanding of psychology, human development, nature, and animal behavior have all become an integral part of her philosophy of healing.
Types of Therapeutic Interventions
Kate draws upon several types of healing modalities to help clients with emotional, cognitive, and behavioral issues. She uses intuitive and creative treatment planning, incorporating clients diagnosis, individual preferences, responding to both what the client is bringing up each session, as well as overarching structured goals.
Specific theories used: animal-assisted therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic theory, mindful self-compassion interventions, mindfulness based CBT, polyvagal theory, the Gottman method and attachment theories.
